Ashes Divide (commonly typeset as ASHES dIVIDE) is an American rock band formed by guitarist Billy Howerdel, who had also formed A Perfect Circle. As of January 2008, the only known members of the band are Billy Howerdel, who played almost every instrument used (vocals, guitar, bass guitar, keyboard),[1] Josh Freese (drums), and Devo Keenan (cello), the son of Maynard James Keenan.[2] In addition to Freese and Devo, the record will feature Dean Menta, Concrete Blonde's Johnette Napolitano, Alkaline Trio's Matt Skiba and former A Perfect Circle bassist Paz Lenchantin.
The band's first single, "The Stone", made its radio premier on January 22, 2008.[3] Their debut album, Keep Telling Myself It's Alright, was released on April 8. On February 22, Howerdel explained on Chicago radio station Q101 that the date was pushed back from March 18 because of the record label. "The Stone" and a portion of "Enemies" can be heard on the band's MySpace page.[4] Billy Howerdel revealed the touring lineup to The Gauntlet on Mar 20, 2008. The tour lineup will consist of Jeff Friedl on drums, Matt McJunkins on bass, Andy Gerold on lead guitar and Adam Monroe on piano/keyboards.
Ashes Divide is also featured on Linkin Park's Projekt Revolution 2008 tour. Joining Ashes Divide and Linkin Park on the Main Stage is Chris Cornell and The Bravery. On the Revolution Stage is Atreyu, 10 Years, Hawthorne Heights, Armor For Sleep, and Street Drum Corps.
